Winter of 2013 has seen 3 Herons taking up residence along the banks.
There are regularly 3 Cormarants to be seen on the tree stumps near the Railway Bridge. There used to be 4, but sadly one was found dead at the end of January 2014.
Two pairs of swans successfully reared youngsters last year. One set of swans had 5 cygnets, the other set 7 cygnets. They have almost lost their juvenile plumage and will soon be seen off the territory by the adults, ready to breed again this year.
This mainly white duck is the result of a cross between a Mallard and an escapee domestic Aylsbury! She has been around for about 5 years and is responsible for the other blotchy looking ducks on the Canal.
Well-known pair in the field adjacent to the Canal Basin. Please do not be tempted to feed!
